چکیده

Ephedra species were erect, branching shrubs found in desert or arid regions worldwide as the source of ephedrine alkaloids. In this study, complete chloroplast genome przewalskii and E. monosperma on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau sequenced, assembled, annotated. Compared with other four published species, genomes highly conservative, a quadripartite structure. The length was 109,569 bp 36.6% GC 109,604 GC. We detected 118 genes both including 73 PCGs, 37 tRNA genes, eight rRNA genes. Among them, ndh family lost, which could be used to study phylogeny genetic diversity genus Ephedra, combined multiple variable intergenic spacer (IGS) regions. Codon usage preference weak. ratio non-synonymous substitutions synonymous low, showing that PCGs may under pressure purifying selection. ML BI analysis showed similar phylogenetic topologies. clustered together well-supported monophyletic clade. not gathered one clade, consistent classification system by Flora China. This reveals differences providing valuable abundant data for identification Ephedra.

Evolutionary History of a Desert Shrub Ephedra przewalskii (Ephedraceae): Allopatric Divergence and Range Shifts in Northwestern China

Based on two chloroplast DNA sequences, psbA-trnH and trnT-trnF, phylogeographical patterns of a desert shrub, Ephedra przewalskii, were examined across most of its geographic range in northwestern China. A total of sixteen haplotypes were detected. There was a common haplotype in each basin, that was haplotype A in Tarim Basin, haplotype G in Junggar Basin, and haplotype M in Qaidam Basin. Gen...

A-type proanthocyanidins from the stems of Ephedra sinica (Ephedraceae) and their antimicrobial activities.

Phytochemical investigation of the n-BuOH-soluble fraction of the EtOH extract of the herbaceous stems of Ephedra sinica, which is known as Ephedrae Herba in Traditional Chinese Medicine, led to the isolation and identification of 12 A-type proanthocyanidins, containing five dimers, two trimers and five tetramers [i.e., (+)-epigallocatechin-(2α→O→7,4α→8)-(-)-catechin, named ephedrannin D₁, a di...

Development of microsatellite markers using Illumina MiSeq sequencing to characterize Ephedra gerardiana (Ephedraceae)1

PREMISE OF THE STUDY Ephedragerardiana (Ephedraceae), occurring in the Himalayan ranges, is an important plant species used in Tibetan medicine. Due to the lack of molecular markers to characterize genetic diversity, knowledge for conservation and uses of E. gerardiana resources is limited; we therefore developed microsatellite markers for use in this species. METHODS AND RESULTS Using Illumi...

Genetic diversity of Ephedra plants in mongolia inferred from internal transcribed spacer sequence of nuclear ribosomal DNA.

Ephedrae herba has been used for treating colds, relieving coughs and asthma from ancient times. We previously reported the distribution of Ephedra sinica, E. equisetina, E. przewalskii, E. regeliana, E. monosperma and Ephedra sp. in Mongolia, and among them E. sinica and E. equisetina were potential new resources of Ephedrae herba of Japanese pharmacopoeia grade, based on our field survey and ...

Variable wood formation and adaptation to the alpine environment of Ephedra pachyclada (Gnetales: Ephedraceae) in the Mustang district, western Nepal.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS Plants of Ephedra normally have vessels, but are known to become nearly vessel-less in some alpine localities. Previous studies implied that wood formation in Ephedra differs fundamentally from that in dicotyledons in which vessel-bearing and vessel-less taxa are systematically distinct. Using E. pachyclada in the Mustang district of Nepal, growing in an altitudinal range of...
